Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a secondary school in Chorley, as they are looking to hire a Sports Coach to further engage and develop their pupil’s enjoyment of physical activity and development in the new academic year (September 2024).

The role as a sports coach:

As a sports coach for this school, it is important to have the necessary qualifications and experience to effectively teach and engage with pupils aged between 11-16 years. Additionally, having first aid training is desirable as it can ensure the safety of the pupils while they are participating in sporting activities.

Your role as a sports coach will involve teaching classes with varying sizes between 20-25 pupils. It is important to create a professional yet engaging learning environment that follows all health and safety procedures and behavioural policies set by the school.

Working on a part-time basis, Wednesday to Friday between 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, you will need to be dressed appropriately for the role and maintain a professional attitude throughout your time on school grounds. Although this is a sports coach role, there may be elements of general classroom support on your timetable, so it is important to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.

The school has a focus on building meaningful relationships with all pupils, staff and parents to create a respectful and safe environment for all. As a sports coach, you will need to be able to form these relationships easily and engage in all activities as a part of school life.

Overall, we require a combination of teaching skills, sports knowledge, first aid training, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to form meaningful relationships with staff, pupils and parents.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
