Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to join the staff team in a small school in Washington. This is a part-time role, Wednesday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30pm term time only.

Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks

  • Clarifying and explaining instructions
  • Motivating and encouraging the pupil(s) as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs
  • Assisting in weaker areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation etc
  • Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task
  • Liaising with class teacher, SENCO and other professionals about personal education plans
  • Providing additional nurture to individuals when requested by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies
  • To establish supportive relationships with the pupil concerned
  • To promote the acceptance and inclusion of pupils with SEN, encouraging pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner

Nessasary to the role

  • Must hold a Child only DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Must hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification 
  • Up to date safegaurding course (we can provide this)
  • Experience working across KS1 & KS2

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
