Are you a passionate and dedicated English Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to inspire students in a diverse secondary school setting? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to announce a full-time position for an English Teacher at an Ofsted Good, diverse secondary school in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role commences in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanent placement based on performance. The salary for this role is in line with PayScale (£30,000 - £46,525).

Role Overview:

As an English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality English education to students across key stages 3 and 4. You will have the opportunity to engage students in exploring literature, developing writing skills, and fostering a love for the English language.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and examination board requirements, covering a range of literary texts, language skills, and writing techniques.

  • Literary Exploration: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, authors, and themes, encouraging critical analysis, interpretation, and appreciation of literature.

  • Writing Development: Support students in developing their writing skills across different genres and forms, providing constructive feedback and guidance to enhance their writing proficiency.

  • Language Acquisition: Facilitate opportunities for students to improve their language skills, including reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and linguistic analysis.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess students' progress and understanding through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support their academic growth and achievement.

  • Literacy Across the Curriculum: Promote literacy skills across the curriculum and collaborate with colleagues to integrate literacy instruction into various subject areas.

  • Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, fostering positive relationships and creating a supportive learning environment conducive to academic success and personal development.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English.

  • Passion for English literature and language education, with a commitment to inspiring students and nurturing their academic and personal growth.

  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a thorough understanding of the national curriculum and assessment criteria.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver creative and effective lessons that cater to students' individual needs and interests.
