Job Description:

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join our dedicated team at a client secondary school located in Hyde. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the school to improve and maintain high levels of student attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track student attendance daily using the school's management information system.
  • Identify patterns of absence and work with students, parents, and staff to address issues and improve attendance rates.
  • Conduct home visits and meetings with parents/carers to discuss attendance concerns and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Liaise with external agencies and authorities as necessary to support students with persistent attendance issues.
  • Prepare and present attendance reports for senior leadership and governing bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and government legislation related to attendance.
  • Provide advice and support to staff on attendance-related matters.
  • Promote a positive attendance culture within the school community.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an Attendance Officer in a school setting is essential.
  • Strong understanding of attendance legislation and the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Proficiency in using school management information systems and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
