Classroom Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic Classroom Assistant to join our team working in a Pupil Referral Unit in Canton. We require a Classroom Assistant that is confident building relationships with young people and able to engage them back in school and able to provide nurturing support to our learners.

Contract Highlights:

£12.90 per hour

Full Time (Monday to Friday)

Our school supports KS3-4 aged learners from around Cardiff that no longer attend mainstream education. We are looking for a flexible Classroom Assistant to work in the KS3 part of the school based in Canton, but they may also be required to cover in the KS4 part of the school in Whitchurch so access to transport is required.

Our classroom assistant will be supporting learners in class that have a range of additional needs included Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Behavioural Needs, Autism and ADHD. We are looking for someone that is able to engage the learners during lesson time to ensure they are on task while also being confident reducing challenging behaviour and unfazed by behaviour. Our learners complete an alternative curriculum to mainstream however many of the learner are doing GCSE or equivalent so an understanding of the secondary curriculum is essential.

We are looking for someone with experience supporting young people however this does not have to be from an education setting, we welcome applicates with a range of experience including childcare, and sports coaching.
